Morning Breeze

Writer: KelliKelli

Let me [re]introduce to you this beauty, Morning Breeze Quilt Pattern.

Originally featured in the Quilts and More Magazine Spring 2022 Issue, this quilt seamlessly blends nostalgia with modern aesthetics. It combines traditional techniques with contemporary visuals, making it an excellent choice for both experienced quilters and those just starting their quilting journey. Trust me, it looks harder than it really is!

The Morning Breeze pattern effortlessly balances classic charm and modern flair. By incorporating simple star patterns with Irish chains, it offers an engaging design that captures your imagination. Whether you’re drawn to solids, vivid prints, or both, this quilt provides a canvas that is easy to make your own!

Selecting fabrics is one of the most enjoyable parts of quilting. With the Morning Breeze quilt, choose solids, prints or mix and match to give added visual appeal.

  • For a classic look: Consider using solid cotton fabrics in soft pastel shades to create a calming atmosphere that is perfect for bedrooms or serene living room spaces.

  • For a bold statement: Vibrant floral prints or striking geometric designs can turn your quilt into an eye-catching piece that makes a statement.

The flexibility of this pattern allows you to express your personality and creativity, making your quilt unlike anyone else’s.

The Morning Breeze Quilt is a nice size Twin quilt, measuring an easy-to-manage 78" x 90". This size is perfect for guest rooms or cozying up on your own bed. Twin quilts offer just the right amount of coverage and warmth without being overwhelming.

This size is particularly accessible for a wide range of quilters. Beginners can take on a twin quilt without feeling daunted, while seasoned quilters will find it a fun and rewarding project that won’t take too long to complete.

If you are like me, when you have a beautiful collection like Love Note by Lella Boutique for Moda, you have a very hard time deciding which prints to use and which not to. So, I made an alternate version of Morning Breeze so that I could use more of these lovely prints.

The alternate version is constructed the very same way as laid out in the PDF constructions, just with a few additional fabrics to satisfy cut requirements.

Fabric requirements for the alternate version are listed in the PDF pattern. below you will find additional cutting instructions if you choose to do the alternate version.

If you are also like me, you don't like having [useable] quilt trimmings go to waste. So, I included a bonus reason to love Morning Breeze - A bonus project to use those HST trimmings and turn them into a table runner ( or mini quilt, or combine with other projects and make another quilt!). Requirements, instructions and layout options are included in this pattern.
